And to me, that sacredness is a 24/7, everywhere and all the while, project. It’s never unavailable to be encountered and awed by. You, me, our more than human kin, the ground we stand on, the sky we reach toward, the entirety of the spinning cosmos is nothing but holy spark and sacredness made manifest.
One of the ways I believe today’s religious institutions fail us is by not being more hip to the everyday miracle of this whole aliveness project! To be spiritual is to be amazed. Period. One of the most organic solutions I see to increasing unity in these polarized times is to regain this sense of sacredness, to see it as a force that aligns and can bind us to what we collectively hold dear.
Let’s meet in that lush and spacious place where our sense of shared sacredness intersects, instead of on the long, narrow and jagged plain of difference. May it be so.
